Granite Reef Companies is a multi-disciplinary real estate investment and development firm with a focus on hospitality, single-tenant retail, and non-profit real estate development.

Our approach may sound old-fashioned, but we rely on time-tested principles to drive our investment strategy:

• Patience – Sound real estate strategy is simple (…but not easy), and requires discipline over the long run. We view each investment through a long term lens and make our decisions accordingly, then hold firm.
• Integrity – At our company, doing the right thing and treating others the way we want to be treated is a core principle, not a cliche. We believe in building relationships of trust with those we work with and being good stewards of the trust we’ve been given.
• Community – We believe in supporting the community in which we exist whether that’s locally or nationwide. We believe in giving back through our work with non-profits and also by promoting individual volunteerism within our team. We believe we’re more than what we do when we’re at work and that well-rounded people make better real estate professionals.

Brian Hansen
Principal

Brian Hansen, MRED brings over 15 years of extensive experience in commercial real estate finance, construction, and development to deliver thoughtful, deliberate investment strategy for the company. Having structured over $1.1 billion in hotel and restaurant debt transactions at leading financial institutions, along with previous experience in residential homebuilding and commercial construction, Brian founded Granite Reef Companies to leverage his diverse range of experience to focus on sustainable, long term investment in quality commercial real estate properties. A dedicated volunteer with the Central Arizona Mountain Rescue Association since 2013, Brian serves as a Wilderness EMT / Rescue Technician II and Recruit Training Officer, channeling his leadership and problem-solving skills into life-saving missions, reflecting his commitment to service and community impact.

Our Name

Granite Reef is a notable geological feature along the Salt River and serves as the location of the Granite Reef Diversion Dam. This sturdy granite riverbed offered a solid foundation for the dam’s construction, supporting its critical role in delivering water to sustain the growth and vitality of the Phoenix area. The landmark grants its name to locations throughout the Valley, and Granite Reef Road runs through the heart of Scottsdale, the home of our Company.
